Frequently Asked Questions

Can I donate items that I have at home?

Unfortunately, Goods for Good cannot pick up items; all donations must be shipped to one of our staging facilities in New Jersey. Additionally, Goods for Good does not accept used items unless they are gently used children's books. Please go to Get Involved to learn more about the type of goods we are looking for or email us at info@goodsforgoodinternational.org to find out if your items could be put to good use.

Why does Goods for Good focus on African countries such as Malawi and Liberia?

Malawi and Liberia are among the five poorest countries in Africa. While their histories differ, they both have large populations of children in need and limited resources to address the problem.

In this type of setting, Goods for Good supports local organizations that are trying to cope with this lack of infrastructure. In the future we hope to expand our model to other countries in the region.

How can you ensure that donated goods make it to the intended beneficiaries?

Goods for Good is vigilant about its on-the-ground partners and methods for distribution and tracking. We have conducted extensive primary and secondary research on all grant recipients and put in place mechanisms for understanding each partner organization, its needs, as well as its capacity for proper receipt and distribution of donated items. Goods for Good closely tracks the arrival, distribution, use and impact of all donated items.

My company already donates products to other organizations. Why should I donate my items to Goods for Good?

Goods for Good accepts slightly imperfect goods of all quantities large and small. Goods for Good is a small and lean organization where the benefits of one's donations are easily recognizable regardless of size. Additionally, Goods for Good donates items directly to caregivers and teachers, providing invaluable services to disadvantaged children. Donors of goods will see the direct impact of their donations on the lives of children.

How is donating to Goods for Good related to my business?

Goods for Good is an ideal partner for any business that's trying to cut back on waste, gain tax benefits, receive positive publicity and reduce inventory costs. Please go to Get Involved to learn more about the benefits of becoming involved.

Why should I give money to Goods for Good when there are so many other charities out there?

The Goods for Good model is cost effective. Shipping costs are often less than 10% of the total value of the goods shipped. Additionally, because we rely heavily on volunteers and product donations, our overhead is low so the majority of donated money goes directly to helping children in need. Please go to Get Involved to learn more about the cost effectiveness and low overhead of Goods for Good's work.

Are there other organizations doing this work already?

There is no organization doing what Goods for Good is doing. Goods for Good works with unused items and repurposes them directly to organizations working with disadvantaged children in developing countries.

How can I volunteer for Goods for Good?

We have various needs for volunteers. If you are interested in volunteering you can find more information on the Get Involved page or you can email us at info@goodsforgoodinternational.org.
